Health is a continuum in which all people, at every age and at every time are placed. Regarding this definition and the definition of the universal health organization from the effective components of health which are biotic-, mental-, social-, and spiritual health, the university’s health and treatment centre along side other parts of academic adjutancy has tried its best to be an effective and custodian member in establishing, keeping, and improving the health of the young academic society. Therefore this center acts by qualitative and quantitative development and by observing the health and treatment standards in different sections and establishes some units in agreement with the requirement of great academic family.Institutional attempts established during the last years in this centre were based on that.

 The most important activities of this centre are as follows:

1. Hygienic serving and supervision

a. Hygienic reports and inspection of central self-service, free restaurant and special buffet, cafeterias of colleges and dormitories, food stuffs supermarkets, barber shops, bakery, butchery, swimming pool, the university educational workshops, laboratory of colleges as regards vocational health (hygienic regulations are  available in the site of the centre.)

b. Family health care and vaccination

c. Health protection project, medical check up and mouth and tooth health of newcomer students.    Research results:Out of 1852 students whom were checked up in 84-85, 133 cases were identified. 26 out of 133 cases were at master’s level and 107 cases at the bachelor’s level. These cases includes: mild hyper tension, MVP, hypo thyroidism  and hyper thyroidism, anemia, Favism, convulsion, congenital heart disease, leukemia, hearing loss, skin problem, minor thalassemia, goiter, mild asthma, migraine, kidney diseases and osteomalacia.

2. Treatment

1-2- public treatment services by general practitioner, male and female expert nurses at all hours and with less cost.

2-2- specialized clinical services by invitee specialist (otolaryngology, psychiatry, internal, dermatology, nutrition, etc) according to the declared timing

3-2- laboratory Para clinical services

4-2- General and specialized dentistry services by General Dentist and specialist in the fields of Endo, dental surgery, corrective and cosmetic, composite and etc

5-2- hygienic services including the investigation of family health, vaccination, nutrition-hygiene, mental health, environmental hygiene, and occupational health

6-2- The client use of the social security insurance and treatment services insurance

7-2- The telephone number of 115 (internal) for connection with emergency of health and treatment centre

8-2- around- the- clock preparation of one ambulance and a driver

9-2- Referring the special and emergency patients to the specialist’s hospital at the diagnose of the physician of the centre

10-2- Answering the questions of student via site or via medical consulting box in the health centre on a weekly basis

3. Education and transmission(intelligence gathering)

In order to optimum intelligence gathering and improving the awareness level of students and academics about hygienic and medical matters, some special activities have been started that includes:

1-3- Preparation and distribution of educational brochures in the fields of hygiene and prevention

2-3- Publication of the social-medical quarterly periodical of “Hoom” which includes different scientific (hygiene and prevention, medicine and diseases, psychological medicine, dentistry, social, and etc…), cultural, literary and medical history chapters

3-3- Intelligence gathering via site of the center with the address of Http://clinic.iut.ac.ir and the electronic magazine of “Hoom” Http://e-hoom.com 

4-3- Organizing the seminars (thalassemia, AIDS, dangerous behavior and etc) Educational workshops (emotional intelligence, nutrition and correcting the life style, relief working and etc…), dormitory specialized assemblies with different specialists (nutrition, orthopedics, dermatology and etc…)

Lateral activities

- medical commission: The information relating to medical commission and related regulations is available in the site of the centre

- covering the medical services of university sport tournaments

- the activity of health and treatment committee in the student’s sport Olympiad in summer of 83

- collaboration with Isfahan blood bank in the field of blood conferring in the health and treatment center of the university, twice in a year

The Personnel

Presently 11 specialists including dermatologist, ENT, internal, cardiologist, Ob and Gyn, psychiatrist, orthopedist, specialist dentist (corrective, composite, endo, oral-facial surgery, orthodontics, prosthesis ), and 9 medical doctors including general practitioner, dentist, pharmacologist and 14 bachelors in the fields of nursing, laboratory, oral and dental hygiene cooperate with this center. Also, in order to consider the necessary standards in this center, one chief of staff supervises on all the activities in every department.

Extending the equipments

-  Increasing the equipments in the emergency department according to up-to- date standards

- Initiating and equipping the laboratory

-  Increasing the number of dental units according to the increasing number of the client

- Increasing the equipments of light cure, dental radiology, ultrasonic

- Adding one ambulance to the emergency system

Development of medical work, Para medicine, and dentistry

- Addition of mother and child observation (health and care) section to the family hygiene and vaccination
